This tattoo-rockin’, economics-studying, animal-loving Cali girl is not your average NYC photographer! Lidia Jane Byhower is a fashion and beauty photographer based in amazing New York City. Born and raised in Hermosa Beach, California, she grew up in a loving home full of animals and art. Lidia’s parents instilled a strong love for art in her through their extensive collection of original art by Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, and Ronnie Cutrone. Lidia shows her love for animals by being a vegetarian, huge anti-fur advocate, and mommy of five yorkies, Cowgirl, Deuce, C.J., Lucky, and Juice. Lidia’s heritage is a combination of African-American, Mexican, Dutch, German, Native American, and French, so the diversity of New York City makes her feel right at home!
Lidia’s love for photography began in front of the camera when she started modeling. It wasn’t long before she realized she was more interested in what was going on behind the camera! She loved everything about photography: the lighting, the artistry, the angles, and the colors. She began doing her own photography professionally in 2007 when she bought her first SLR camera. Lidia worked very hard to build her portfolio, build connections, and saved all her money for more lenses and equipment. She quickly gained a strong positive reputation and was booking paid shoots almost any time she had free from school. She has extensive experience in fashion photography, model portfolios, event photography, and product photography. Along the way, she made great friends and met so many amazing people.
Lidia is involved in every aspect of her shoots, from creation of the original concept, to location scouting, hair, makeup, wardrobe, and post-production work. Lidia is a self-taught Photoshop Wizard and is often contacted by models and photographers for post-production editing. She is an extremely hard worker, very motivated, and determined to go above and beyond all her client’s expectations. She puts her heart and soul into all her work and absolutely loves what she does.
